Q: Let’s say I have 30 posts in my queue for each of these categories. What would go out at these times where multiple categories are selected? Would multiple posts go out or does it randomly choose from one of the categories & publish just one post?
A: At the time specified in the Schedule, it will select only one post to go out. The oldest unsent post in the Queue will go out to the social networks that are enabled in the Schedule and included in the post, but only if you tagged the post with any one of the Categories that are enabled in the Schedule. If it can’t find any, it will then look for ReQueue posts using the same logic as above.
Q: Let’s say I created 30 re-queue posts at a time for each category… the oldest posts would then be the category I created first. So does that mean it would go through all 30 posts from the first category before moving onto the 2nd category? I’m just trying to figure out the best way to have it alternate between categories. For now, I’ve just made it so I have only one category for each time slot.
A: Think of Category and Social Network as being an exclusionary or inclusionary factor. Either it matches with a Schedule item or it doesn’t. The sort is determined exclusively based on the order in which it was added to the Queue. So if you want posts to alternate between Category A and B, you would either: 1. create separate Schedule items for each Category or 2. Include both Categories in all Schedule items AND alternate Categories when adding posts to the Queue. (Tag one as Category A, tag the next to Category B, etc.).
